Maya Spangler (b. 1999, Los Angeles) is a photographer based between Los Angeles and New York. Her work is an ongoing exploration of femininity, longing, and the emotional landscapes of unresolved girlhood. Blending stylized intimacy with raw emotionality, her photographs exist in the tension between performance and authenticity tracing themes of private rebellion and self-mythology.
Spangler’s debut book, Stolen Besos, published by Enter Bliss and with an introduction by Richard Kern, marks Spangler’s first official body of work.
Her work has been featured in Dazed, Interview, Flaunt, Cultured, Office, Purple, Kerrang!, Vogue, MAPS Korea, Schön, and KIDZ 2024. She was named to the Dazed 100 in 2023 and nominated by Richard Kern as Cultured Magazine’s 2024 Young Photographer List.
